REVIEW OF RANGOON (2017)
Rangoon is an upcoming Bollywood Hindi-language drama movie, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The project is a period movie set during World War II (1939-1945) and supposedly portrays the life and times of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia, Bollywood’s first original stunt-woman still remembered for her fiery role in the movie Hunterwali. It stars Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles. The film is scheduled for release on 24 February 2017.
Rangoon is a love story between Kangna Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan, and Shahid Kapoor. It is set against the backdrop of the Second WW II (World War 2). Regarding the story, Vishal said that “In history, very few people know that India was also involved in World War II. On the Burma border, the British Indian army was fighting against Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army, who were then with Japanese army and Indians were killing Indians at the Burma border”.
Kangana has undergone a three months dance practice, sword fighting, and horse riding. She will play the role of Miss Julia a diva from ’40s. She will be women with a whip, a Marilyn Monroe-like haircut and a white stallion. As per the reports, “Julia who is in love with a producer, played by Saif Ali Khan, meets Shahid Kapoor’s character and loses her heart again”.
