REVIEW OF THE DARK TOWER 2017
The Dark Tower is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel & stars Idris Elba (Luther) as Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar) as the Man in Black, Tom Taylor (Doctor Foster) as Jake Chambers, Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tirana, Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) as Pimli, Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) as Richard Sayre, Michael Barbieri (Little Men) as Timmy, Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age of Ultron) as Arra Champignon and Katheryn Winnick (Vikings) in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on July 28th.
Emerging from a prolonged development cycle, 2017 is the year in which Stephen King fans will finally clock eyes on a big-screen rendition of The Dark Tower. It’s been a long time to come, to say the least, but for all of the interest swirling around Nikolaj Arcel’s adaptation and its A-list cast, not to mention the current July release date, Sony has yet to fire up the film’s marketing campaign in earnest. That’s all set to change very soon, however, if a report compiled by Birth.Movies.Death is to be believed.
The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, roams an Old West-like landscape where “the world has moved on” in pursuit of the man in black. Also searching for the fabled Dark Tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.
