REVIEW OF LEAP! (2016)
Ballerina is a 2016 English-language French-Canadian 3D computer-animated musical fantasy adventure movie co-directed by Eric Summer and Éric Warin. The screenplay, by Summer, Carol Noble and Laurent Zeitoun, with music by Klaus Badelt, concerns a poor orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina and gets a chance to audition for the celebrated school of the Paris Opera Ballet.
The movie stars the voices of Elle Fanning, Dane DeHaan, Maddie Ziegler and Carly Rae Jepsen. It was released in theaters in France and the UK in December 2016. The movie is set to be released in the U.S. on March 3, 2017, under the title Leap!.
The movie tells the story of Félicie, a young orphan girl with a passion for dancing. With the help of her best friend Victor, she manages to escape from an orphanage and travel all the way to Paris, where many challenges and intriguing encounters await her. Ballerina is a funny and touching story about friendship, self-confidence, and family.
